Mandarin Oriental Ritz, Madrid
curated★★★★★$$$$Plaza de la Lealtad 5, 28014 Madrid
1 / 8Two floors below the Palm Court, down a lift most guests never find, the restored Ritz hides the prettiest indoor pool in the city — Dolomite stone, chandeliers, a fibre-optic ceiling doing Madrid's night sky. The heat sits beside it in a coed wet area: sauna, steam room, a vitality pool and a circuit of sensation showers. It is a bathing suite designed to be walked through rather than sat in, so treat it as a circuit and give it an hour. The hotel above is the 1910 Ritz after Mandarin Oriental's restoration, opposite the Prado, and still the grandest address in Madrid.
