Le Max Wellington runs a 30-degree hydrotherapy pool into a sauna and hammam with contrast experiences built in, which is a more deliberate thermal sequence than most city hotels bother with. In summer there's a rooftop pool as well. The hotel is old-guard Madrid — bullfighting season regulars, a proper bar — sitting a block off Retiro on Velázquez, and it charges noticeably less than the newer five-stars for a comparable wet area.
